The Criminological Imagination: Another ViewDepartment of Criminal Justice, University of Alabama in Birmingham, University Station, Birmingham, AL 35294 In light of Mills (1959) critique of sociology, this article examines several instances of what might be called a lack of the "criminological imagination". concern for academic issues, a focus on the employee apart from the system, the use of convenient methodological techniques, and incomplete questioning. An explanation for these phenomena is argued to be the pressure to publish.
